My daughter has swim lessons here every week. She is doing great, when she first started two months ago she was frightened of putting her face in the water. She could not swim without an aid. She now swims under the water and can swim without an aid. Her confidence in the water has grown immensely. She wants to keep going with lessons and progress to do synchronised swimming after watching them rehearse whilst waiting for her lesson to start. Watching her swim and the pure joy it brings her is the highlight of my week.
Really lovely fairly modern huge pool and I like the current green views - although they will probably build on the land soon... It's pretty functional, no slides or fun attractions except when they host Atlantis Splash!
I have been a member at leisure centre almost 4 years. Never had an issues on the gym floor even when it is very busy or one of the Gym instructors / Personal trainers training someone. But today I was stopped by Personal trainer middle of my workout and she asked me to stop and move away from Ski machine because she needed for hers client. Never in any gym that has happened to me in my whole life. Kicking out someone half a way through workout and dropping heart and and body temperature and ask come back after they are done can lead to severe some kind of injury. I felt very upset. Went downstairs to give my feedback to manger but response was very poor. Also gym floor is not the cleanest as well as female changing room and toilets were very dirty. Sinks in toilets were full with some kind of black dust/hair and water did not go down the sink.
I hope management will pay attention what is happening on the gym floor and incidents like it not going to happen again.
Would not returning as the manager was rude and had a disappointing experience with this gym. Despite booking through their online system, the gym was due to close and not update their website, leaving me and my family without the service I had arranged. When I approached the manager for assistance or a refund, I encountered rudeness and an unwillingness to help. This lack of customer service left me frustrated and dissatisfied with my overall experience.
Had a three day trial. Gym and pool are both large, but that's where the positives end.
Changing rooms and showers are filthy. Toilet paper was on the floor for three consecutive days when I went. Toothpaste and what appeared to be mud had been sprayed up the shower cubicle wall.
Jacuzzi hot tub is cold, not heated at all. I sent an email asking how often the changing rooms and showers were cleaned, and what the temperature of the hot tub is set at, but I never received a response. A couple days after my trial finished. I received a marketing calls from the leisure centre asking if I’d like to sign up with them. I explained that I had emailed but received no response and I asked them on the phone how often the showers were cleaned and what are the temperature of the hot tub was. They told me that they didn’t know how often the showers were cleaned and that it’s supposed to be done by the lifeguards..they told me that they didn’t know how often the showers were cleaned and that it’s supposed to be done by the lifeguards. they also told me they don’t know what the temperature of the hot tub is set at and that they would speak to their managers, who would then gets back to me.
I wasn’t surprised when I receive no response from management after waiting two weeks for one.
Conclusion: For more than £40 a month, I would expect the changing rooms and showers to be cleaned at least daily and I would expect professionalism from the staff. Unfortunately both of these things are not apparent and I would warn anybody before taking out a monthly or yearly contract with the leisure centre that you check these conditions for yourself. If I had actually received a phone call back from the managers I might well have ended up signing up to the leisure centre because it’s closer to me than other gyms. However, I have now signed up to another gym which happens to be a lot cheaper and the quality is much higher.
I’ve given up with Hengrove leisure centre for virtual spin classes. The last 4 times I’ve been there the virtual class isn’t set up. Sometimes I can find the staff and they try and set it up, but sometimes they’re not around. It should be standard practice that before a virtual class, someone on shift checks it’s on. I’ve even tried the first class of the day at 6.30am and it hasn’t been turned on, which mean management either aren’t showing their staff how to set it up, or management don’t ask their staff to check the set up at the start of the day. Wastes my time and ruins my training. I’ve given up.
When we walked into changing room, it was so cold!! And we used children pool it was tpo deep.and too cold for my toddler who was shivering whole time as her lips wete turning blue so we took her out and had warm shower but shivering again in changing room. Felt it not suitable for toddlers or babies. We couldn't find family changing room so apparently they doesn't have any.
Currently running a car parking scam - entered my reg on the tablet at reception but still got a penalty notice. Been informed that they can rescind it if I pay £20 or take my chances appealing with the third party parking form.
